The usual approach for patients with early-stage TNBC who receive preoperative chemotherapy plus pembrolizumab is to continue to receive pembrolizumab for up to 27 weeks after surgery. Immunotherapy with monoclonal antibodies, such as pembrolizumab, may help the body's immune system attack the cancer, and may interfere with the ability of tumor cells to grow and spread. This trial may help researchers determine if observation is as good as receiving pembrolizumab for 27 weeks after surgery in triple-negative breast cancer patients who achieved a pathologic complete response after preoperative treatment with chemotherapy and pembrolizumab.","abstract_license":"ClinicalTrials.gov (U.S. National Library of Medicine), data processed 2026-10-29T09:00:05; modifications: selected fields only; whitespace normalized; brief summary truncated to 2,000 characters","license":"ClinicalTrials.gov terms (attribution, processing date, modifications noted)","is_open_access":true,"retracted":false,"peer_reviewed":null,"categories":["Anatomic Stage II Breast Cancer AJCC v8","Early Stage Triple-Negative Breast Carcinoma","Anatomic Stage IIIA Breast Cancer AJCC v8","Anatomic Stage IIIB Breast Cancer AJCC v8"],"details":{"acronym":null,"status":"RECRUITING","phase":"PHASE3","study_type":"INTERVENTIONAL","enrollment":1295,"sponsor":"Alliance for Clinical Trials in Oncology","conditions":["Anatomic Stage II Breast Cancer AJCC v8","Early Stage Triple-Negative Breast Carcinoma","Anatomic Stage IIIA Breast Cancer AJCC v8","Anatomic Stage IIIB Breast Cancer AJCC v8"],"interventions":["BIOLOGICAL: Pembrolizumab","OTHER: Patient Observation","PROCEDURE: Biopsy","PROCEDURE: Biospecimen Collection","OTHER: Questionnaire Administration","OTHER: Quality-of-Life Assessment"],"start_date":"2023-06-14","start_date_type":"ACTUAL","primary_completion_date":"2033-05-31","has_results":false,"data_source":"ClinicalTrials.gov","data_processed":"2026-10-29T09:00:05","modifications":"selected fields only; whitespace normalized; brief summary truncated to 2,000 characters"},"provenance":"clinicaltrials","attribution":"Source: ClinicalTrials.gov (U.S. National Library of Medicine), data processed 2026-10-29T09:00:05; modifications: selected fields only; whitespace normalized; brief summary truncated to 2,000 characters.
