Abstract

Weak localization in two-dimensional disordered electron systems originates from constructive interference between time-reversed scattering paths, giving rise to a logarithmically divergent quantum-interference correction to the dc conductivity. This behavior is generally suppressed when time-reversal symmetry (TRS) is broken. In this study, using a band-projected framework motivated by spin- and valley-polarized rhombohedral $N$-layer graphene (RNG), we show that nonuniform quantum geometry can qualitatively modify quantum-interference corrections to dc transport. In particular, continuously tuning the quantum geometry can change the sign of the conductivity correction, corresponding to a crossover between localization and antilocalization tendencies. Remarkably, at special values of the parameter controlling the quantum geometry, weak-localization (WL) or weak-antilocalization (WAL) can re-emerge despite broken microscopic TRS. At these special points, the orbital structure of the Bloch states gives rise to an emergent antiunitary symmetry that protects a gapless Cooperon mode and restores the logarithmically divergent quantum-interference correction characteristic of WL or WAL. Our results establish nonuniform quantum geometry as a mechanism for controlling quantum interference and electron localization in multiorbital electronic systems.
