MOSAIC-SC: A Modular Oxide–Moiré– Hydrogen Platform for Testing Cooperative Pairing at Ambient Pressure

Giustino Travaglini

Abstract

The manuscript presents MOSAIC-SC, a conceptual research proposal for investigating superconductivity at ambient pressure through a modular heterostructure based on FeSe/SrTiO₃. It explores the potential interplay of interfacial phonons, hydrogen/deuterium incorporation, electrostatic gating, ferroelectric polarization, and moiré-induced electronic interactions to identify mechanisms that may enhance superconducting pairing. The proposal outlines a staged experimental programme with falsifiable hypotheses, complementary theoretical and experimental approaches, and rigorous criteria to distinguish enhanced pairing from macroscopic phase coherence. Rather than claiming room-temperature superconductivity, the work aims to establish a systematic framework for identifying cooperative or competing mechanisms and guiding the design of new superconducting materials.
